Having been born in the Upstate of South Carolina, I do have to admit that I am blessed! And having moved BACK to the area in 1990 was an even greater blessing!!
As a child, we spent many weekends swimming and skiing and playing on the area’s small lakes.  Chattooga Lake, known to us as Fowler’s Lake; Lake Becky; Lake Cherokee; Cheohee; and Mountain Rest Lake, which we called Brown’s Lake were all BIG TIME fun.
Another favorite “water sport” was sliding at Flat Shoals on Little River in Tamassee.  Back in ancient times (my childhood!), cars were driven right out to the river, and we would spend hours in the cool, clear water.
As Lake Keowee was developed, we spent more and more time exploring the BIG lake.  Keowee was positively gargantuan when compared to skiing on Fowler’s!!  I remember making two or three full-lake runs without falling on Chattooga (Fowler’s), but it just wasn’t possible on Keowee!
Lake Keowee became a favorite place to play, and it provided two of the best summer jobs ever!!  I was a Lifeguard at High Falls County Park during one of my High School summers.  Yes, there used to be life guards on the lake.  But we also were the garbage collectors and bathhouse cleaners for the park.  I have a sincere appreciation for anyone who has those kinds of jobs; people truly can be slobs!!!  AND, people truly can be wonderful!!  Campers would quite often feed us poor ‘ole minimum-wage kids, and there is NOTHING better tasting than a charcoal-grilled ‘burger!!
My other “Keowee” job was a part-time, summer job during my college years.  I tended bar at the NEWLY developed (well, almost new) Keowee Key clubhouse.  I loved that job!  There were very few homes within the community compared to today, and everyone seemed to always be at the club.
I was graduated from Walhalla High School in June of 1980, and from Clemson University in December of 1983.  Armed with a Bachelor’s of Science in Administrative Management, I promptly headed for the “big city” -----  Atlanta, G A!  After several years of the corporate world, I made it home to The Golden Corner where my life in real estate began.  Some twenty-plus years later, I still enjoy going to work every day!  Homes, building lots, rentals, commercial property.  If it’s real property, I can help you.  Call me, email me, text me.  I cover the Carolina’s Mountains, Lakes, and in-Between, and I am here for you.

This is Lake Jocassee, at Devil's Fork State Park.  Check out that clear, blue water!!
